The article deals with the organizational and legal principles of using the latest technologies for detecting and preventing terrorist threats. The terrorist acts committed in recent years at transport infrastructure facilities and other places of mass presence of people indicate the need to revise their comprehensive security systems. The purpose of the study is to consider the organizational and legal framework for the use of new technologies to detect and prevent terrorist threats, study the possibilities of using modern video surveillance systems and biometric identification at airports, railway stations, subways and other places of mass residence, the use of robots and radars to detect and stop terrorist activities, etc. Some aspects of implementation of the newest means of the operatively-search activity for the purpose of timely detection and the termination of the crimes connected with terrorist activity are analyzed; the use of modern systems of video surveillance and biometric identification of a person. The peculiarities of the use of modern robots and radars by law enforcement officials for the terrorist threats prevention and violations of the quarantine regime have been determined. It is emphasized that the active use of the Internet and social networks by terrorist organizations stimulates to create a European Center for Combating Terrorism and Radicalization on the Internet, which should become an element of the Internet help desk existing at Europol.
