Based on the analysis of theoretical foundations of enterprise management, the process of forming an economic mechanism has been constructed. The classification of the mechanisms in the sphere of enterprise management is made and the ones that can be used in the process security activity (economic security and anti-crisis) are singled out. The concept of the mechanism of ensuring the economic security (security activity) of innovative enterprises has been investigated. The focus is on the peculiarities of innovative-active enterprises (implementation of innovative activity during the last three years, realization of innovative products during the specified period, the research, the development of new products, works, services, all this was accompanied by thorough marketing research, organizational changes in structure, the increase of own structure innovative potential, making changes to the strategy of the activity, attracting highly qualified personnel), which are the determining factor of the formation mechanism of economic security. Among the proposed approaches to understanding the specifics of the mechanism in the field of economic security, which will ensure the functioning of the economic security system of the enterprise, among the existing scientific approaches, according to which there is an economic security formation mechanism, an economic security management mechanism and an economic security mechanism, the expediency of using the latter is substantiated. The structure of the mechanism for ensuring the economic security (security activity) of innovative enterprises has been developed. It is proposed in the structure of the mechanism of ensuring the economic security of innovatively active enterprises to distinguish the following components: theoretical and methodological, functionally-providing, evaluation and management. The theoretical and methodological principles and methodological approaches are included; to functionally-providing – methods, measures, tools and levers. The evaluation and management component of the economic security mechanism envisage determining the level of economic security at a specific date according to a pre-approved list of indicators in different fields, comparing them with thresholds, and making appropriate decisions to achieve the strategic and short-term goals of the innovation-active enterprise. The necessity of further study of the formation of this mechanism is emphasized, as it is the basis for the effectiveness of security activities at the enterprise
