Abstract
Considerable topicality in the present-day conditions is given to counteracting modern security threats during major cultural, mass and sporting events, improving the effectiveness of responding to adverse operational conditions, methods and means of eliminating sources of danger, and applying the latest technologies in ensuring law and order. The purpose of the study is to consider the current problems of using the latest technologies to ensure the safety of the largest international sports events, to analyze the use of modern video surveillance systems and biometric identification during the Olympic Games, World Cups and European Football Championships, UEFA Champions League finals. In particular, the issues of security of the 2014 and 2018 World Cups and the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil are considered. It is emphasized that the main task of the video surveillance system in the stadiums is the physical safety of the people in the stadium, the security of the events themselves and the reduction of the risk of terrorist threat. The peculiarities of the interaction of law enforcement agencies with the organizers and security services of international sports events on safety, security and service during football matches and other sports events are identified. It is noted that the problems of counteracting the modern security threats at major sporting events require the further joint efforts of the organizers, service personnel and security services in carrying out these activities
