Abstract
The essence of the informational and psychological war is revealed in the article and the scientific sources on the subject are analyzed. The author defines the methods of psychological influence, describes its consequences. Thus, the main methods of psychological influence include psychological and military means, but systems of trade and economic sanctions aimed at undermining the economy of a potential enemy can be used as well. It is noted that psychological impact directly affects the mental health of the nation. At the social level, the phenomenon of “psychological warfare” characterizes political activity of politicians, political groups, parties and movements; election technologies used by candidates and various posts, advertising of commercial goods and services, the struggle of competing individuals or groups for the primacy in industry or science, etc., negotiations between competing organizations, political, economic or cultural confrontation between conflicting ethnic groups. Psychological warfare is carried out via informational and psychological influence – that includes purposeful, systematic, time-coordinated strikes throughout the social and informational space – in the area of formal and informal communication, the target of which is: a) self-identification of a person, his social and role identification, which determine general intention of the individual and society as a whole; b) self-awareness as an understanding of the personality of his own identity and the identity of the community in a society, which are reflected in the cultural traditions, beliefs, mentality and are indicated in the language; c) basic values of the person, which make the background of his estimates and judgments. In the article, the author describes one of the devastating technologies of the “Overton’s Window”, which aims to legalize any idea aimed at the gradual destruction of humanity.
