Abstract
Current changes in the Ukrainian legislation, that have been adopted in connection with the European integration processes, is an important part of fight against gender-based violence and, in particular, domestic violence. Main changes began after January 2018, when bas had adopted the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention and Countering Domestic Violence”, which introduced new mechanisms of protecting children and women from domestic violence. This Law defines the organizational and legal principles of preventing and combating domestic violence, the main directions of implementation of state policy in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence, aimed at protecting the rights and interests of the victims of such violence. An important part of combating domestic violence is also the change of society’s views, the attitude to family problems, which are not usually widely condemned. An example of this is the crime statistics in this area, compiled by the Office of the General Prosecutor, which shows us a dramatic increase in the number of reported crimes at the beginning of 2019 compared to the same period in previous years. The purpose of the study is to identify the preventive actions, which are currently implemented and to clearly identify subjects responsible for implementation preventive actions. Their structure includes government authority, non-government organizations and international organizations. Research methodology includes analysis of current legal acts, which includes laws, methodical recommendations, resolutions of Cabinet of Ministers, analytical documents, analysis of data of the Prosecutor General's Office by registered claims of domestic violence, and comparison of activities of authority subjects. The results of the study demonstrate the new structure of bodies, that are responsible for preventing domestic violence, line of new preventing actions by ministers, national police, local authorizes and non-government organizations. It is proposed to strengthen the interaction of main bodies that implement preventative actions and strengthen the role of non-government and international organization in tackling problems
