Abstract
It is noted that all volitional qualities should be grouped into the following groups: goal-setting, self-organizing, self-regulating, motivational and morally-oriented. It is emphasized that each volitional quality has the opposite quality and when a person is performing a particular type of activity, it may have different degrees of expression (very high, high, medium, low, very low). The author’s questionnaire “Volitional Quality” made it possible to conduct a survey among investigators in the units of the National Police of Ukraine (to determine standard psychological profile of the volitional qualities of the investigator) and successful students (to determine the degree of development of volitional qualities among them). This allowed to characterize and distinguish among successful students such types as: erudite, researcher, balanced, cunning, demonstrative, rebellious, quiet. As a result of the correlation between the psychological profile of the volitional qualities of the investigator and the profiles of volitional qualities of the types of successful students it was found that the type of “Researcher” is the most successful candidate for the position of an investigator. The standard psychological profile of the volitional qualities of the investigator is substantiated. Thus: a) a high degree of development should have: purposefulness, persistence, perseverance, initiative, self-control, patience, self-management, accuracy, thoroughness, organization, planning, consistency, diligence and discipline; b) an average degree of development should have: determination, courage, bravery, fortitude, manliness and heroism. The necessity of reforming the systems is emphasized: 1) training of specialists in higher education institutions in the field of “Law” disciplines; 2) vocational and psychological selection of candidates for studying in higher education institutions in the field of “Law” disciplines; 3) professional-psychological selection of candidates for positions in the field of legal activity. The author’s scientific hypotheses have been confirmed, that is: 1) success in training is not a criterion for ensuring success in the investigative activities; 2) not all successful students can be successful investigators; 3) a successful investigator is determined by a certain type of successful students; 4) the degree of development of volitional qualities in each type of successful students is different
