The System of Psychological Knowledge and Skills of Employees of the National Police of Ukraine


Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of the professional activity of the staff of the National Police as a system of psychological skills and abilities. The tasks are to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement activities and develop a scientifically grounded system of forming the professional suitability of police officers, which is connected with the emotional and volitional logic of their behavior. Taking into account the obtained results, the program of development of the professional suitability of the staff of the National Police, in which a professional psychological analysis is the instrument for its implementation, is described. This analysis includes a system of requirements that ensure the effective formation, development and correction of components of personal psychological readiness of a specialist: valuable-content, motivational, emotional-volitional and behavioral. It is emphasized that the activities of the National Police should be based on the modern achievements of the psychological science in order to increase the crime counteraction, to provide preventive measures against destructive psychological phenomena, in particular professional deformation. One of the ways to improve the work of the National Police may be the organization of training and methodological seminars for employees of the departments of psychological support of operative-service activity with the participation of scientists of the corresponding specialty. Therefore, the prospects for the development of psychological knowledge and skills of the police agencies are the preparation of psychological portraits, the use of polygraphs, negotiation activities during operative and search activities, etc. It is also important to update the methodological base, apply modern standardized methods in different areas of activities, and continue the work on improving the normative and legal basis for the activities of the psychological service of these bodies
