Abstract

Introduction: the question of the current state and development of innovation activity is the subject of research by many leading foreign and domestic scientists. An analysis of recent scientific publications has shown that some important aspects of the problem under study remain insufficiently considered and require further study: features and factors of innovation activity, distribution of innovation costs, etc. Purpose: theoretical study of the state and trends of innovative activity of the regions of Ukraine, the provision of methodological recommendations for the definition of the institutional foundations of innovation development. Methods: the theoretical basis of the research is the fundamental position of the formation of the system of evaluation of industrial enterprises; modern economic theory, which envisages taking into account the goals of innovation development and the requirements of international standards; scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists on innovation. The methodological basis of the research consists of general scientific and specific methods of scientific knowledge. In the process of research, the following methods of economic research were used: abstract-logical (the formation of theoretical generalizations and conclusions); monographic (study of scientific works on problems of analysis and evaluation of innovative activity of enterprises); direct analysis and synthesis (systematization of methodological foundations of regional development strategies). Results: the basic principles of formation of the regional policy of innovative development are revealed. Methodological bases of strategies of socio-economic development of the region based on the introduction of innovations are formulated. The indicators of innovation activity having the highest growth dynamics were determined and models of the trend of these indicators were constructed for prediction of the direction of change. Conclusion: the dynamics of the number of enterprises that introduced innovations and their share in the total number of industrial enterprises indicates positive trends in the innovation sector, which are confirmed by statistical data; However, the low level of innovation activity of industrial enterprises in Ukraine and the slowdown in the volumes of sales of innovative products have led to an increase in dependence on imports of new technologies, ready-made high-tech products, and to a decrease in the export of domestic innovative products
