The article gives the common view of current situation on the world and European energy market in the context of transformations arising from the improvement of production technologies, changes in the volume of natural resources, as well as the creation of new transport opportunities and the influence of various environmental factors. The situation in the European energy market is given in connection with the current state of the Ukrainian energy sector and the possible impact on it. Special attention is paid to the energy sector of Ukraine in the context of problems of development and reforming the country’s energy market, taking into account global and regional trends in the face of existing and potential external and internal threats in the energy sector. In the article is considered the Ukrainian new energy strategy until 2020 and the complex of the current problems of Ukrainian economy which connecting with the implementation of this strategy. The author pays attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the Ukrainian new energy policy, as well on the specific of the current situation on energy market and defines the prospective ways of developing energy sector. Overwhelming part of the research is devoted to the issues of the Ukraine’s integration in EU energy sector with the special attention paid on the aspects of the harmonization Ukrainian and EU Law as well as to the provisions of the Ukrainian-European Union Association Agreement in the energy sector. The matter of harmonization Ukrainian and EU Law is considered as the general condition and the key factor of further integration Ukrainian energy sector into single European energy market. On the base of the research conducted are identified the shortcomings and strengths of Ukrainian energy policy, which allow determining the prospects for further development of the country’s energy sector in the light of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. In the conclusion is considered the possibilities and prospects of Ukraine’s integration into the European energy market and determines the practical ways of their implementation
